Snow Leopard Status

August 31st, 2009

Hi Everyone,It seems my previous workaround post has confused some users.WideMail is currently NOT COMPATIBLE with Snow Leopard. The plugin will be disabled upon launching Mail.app.I am working hard trying to port WideMail to the Snow Leopard version of Mail.app and this is proving very challenging, I am moving forward slowly with the help of some very talented programmers but still have quite a way to go.Hopefully i will have something available soon.Cheers,Dane

Lost Subject Column in Snow Leopard

August 15th, 2009

I have been recieving a few emails from WideMail users who have recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and have found that thier subject columns are remaining hidden.

As WideMail provides the ability to show/hide the subject column in order to rectify this situation you will have to manually edit the com.apple.mail.plist file located in ~/Library/Preferences/ (where ~ is your home directory).

QUIT Mail.app FIRST!

To edit the plist file you must use the Property List Editor application that comes installed with the Developer Tools.

You must edit keys within:

Root/TableColumns/

Located in this key are: drafts, normal, notes, outgoing, rss, smart.

Within each of these keys are a list of ids, the subject column id is “2″.

Inside each of the subject column ids change the value of “isVisible” to YES.

Save the plist file and quit Property List Editor.

Relaunch Mail.app and the subject column should now be visible.

If you have further problems please note them in the comments below.

Cheers,

Dane

Snow Leopard Version Coming Soon…

June 16th, 2009

Hi All,

I know you haven’t heard from me in a long time (life goes by quickly when you’re having fun!!).

This is just a quick update to say thanks for all the donations and that I have put them to good use purchasing an ADC Select membership so I can get an advance version of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

Once I get this installed I will begin testing WideMail 0.5.1 on Snow Leopard and hope to release a version that will work on both 10.5.7 and 10.6.0.

I am also trying to put aside some spare time to work on WideMail and implement some new features and squash some of the long standing bugs.

Cheers,

Dane

Crash on 2nd Launch Bug

March 5th, 2008

Hi everyone,

If you have uninstalled widemail and are missing your subject column but cannot retrieve it because a reinstall of widemail will crash mail you just need to trash the widemail preferences located at:

~/Library/Preferences/com.daneharnett.widemail.plist

This will allow you to reinstall widemail and run it once (it will crash again on 2nd launch), so you can re-enable the subject column and remove widemail again.

We are currently working on a solution to this problem however i believe the problem is in sparkle.framework which may mean we have to remove the auto-update mechanism until we can figure it out.

Cheers

WideMail crashes Mail.app on 2nd launch on German & French OS X

March 4th, 2008

It seems many users are having this problem, at this time I believe the problem lies in Sparkle.framework the auto-update mechanism.

Would anyone like to volunteer to help me test and diagnose this problem?

Hopefully we can have it fixed by v0.5.1
